You will not spend your first year on training slides. You will join a client team, write code or run research that ships, and have a mentor who has set time aside for you every week. We hire graduates because we want them to stay and become partners.

We look for curiosity and care, not a particular degree. Some of our graduates studied computer science; others studied history, music or nursing.

Your first year

What the first year looks like

  1. Two weeks in the studio

Meet your cohort, set up your tools and learn how we work, with one small piece of real code or research to finish.

  2. Your first placement

Join a client team of five or six. Your mentor is on the same team and you meet one to one every week.

  3. First review

At three months, a written review from your team about what went well and what to work on next.

  4. Second placement

A different client, industry or area, chosen with you, so you can find where you do your best work.

  5. One year in

You become an owner of KIASA, with a share of the profit and a vote at the annual meeting.

“In my second placement I ran the usability sessions for a clinic booking system, and three weeks later the nurses were using the version we had changed. I had expected to be watching from the back of the room for a year.”

Questions from graduates

Do I need a computer science degree?

No. For engineering roles we ask you to show us something you have built, from coursework or on your own. For design and data roles, a portfolio or a short write-up of a project is enough.

When do the programs start?

The graduate program starts each September. Summer internships run for ten weeks from late June. Apprenticeships start in September and February.

Are internships paid?

Always. Interns are paid at the same rate as first-year graduates, and we cover travel to the studio.

Can I choose my studio?

Yes. Tell us your first and second choice. Graduate roles are open in Lisbon, Amsterdam, London, Toronto, Austin and Melbourne this year.
