Systems that keep up with the network

Billing, provisioning and network data platforms for mobile, fiber and cable operators, so a new plan can launch in weeks and every customer is billed correctly.

What is changing

Operators have invested heavily in fiber and 5G, but the systems that sell, provision and bill for those networks often lag behind. Launching a new plan can mean months of changes across a stack built up over decades. The operators earning a return on their networks are simplifying the systems around them.

Customers compare operators on service as much as on price. A fault that takes three calls to report costs more than the repair.

Network data could predict faults and guide investment, yet much of it is collected and never used.

Three shifts for operators

  • Fewer stacks, faster launches

Years of mergers have left many operators with several billing and order systems. Consolidating them is the fastest route to quicker launches.

  • Fiber at scale

Building and selling fiber means provisioning thousands of homes a week, across retail and wholesale, with no room for manual steps.

  • The network as a source of data

Alarms, performance and usage data, joined to customer records, can find faults before customers report them.

By the numbers

Telecommunications, measured

6 weeks
Time to launch a new mobile plan after billing consolidation, down from seven months.
99.7%
Of fiber orders provisioned without manual intervention on the platforms we have built.
31%
Fewer repeat fault calls after network data was linked to customer service screens.
4 to 1
Billing systems consolidated into one at our largest operator client.

What we do

How we help operators

We move customers between systems in waves, with billing reconciled before and after every one.

  • Billing consolidation

Several billing systems brought into one, customer base by customer base, with every bill reconciled before and after the move.

    Application modernization
  • Order and provisioning

Orders flowing from sale to activation without manual steps, across retail and wholesale and across the network's own systems.

    Integration and APIs
  • Network data platforms

Alarms, performance and usage data collected in one place and joined to customers and assets, so faults can be predicted and investment targeted.

    Artificial intelligence and data
  • Customer service tools

Agent screens that show the customer, their services and the state of the network around them in one view.

    Experience design
  • Self-service and apps

Apps and online accounts where customers change plans, report faults and see their usage without calling anyone.

    Digital product engineering
  • Network and platform security

Core and access networks, and the IT platforms around them, protected and tested as one estate.

Billing

Four billing systems become one

Each acquisition brought its own billing system, and each new plan had to be built four times. Launches took the better part of a year, and some plans could only be sold to some customers.

We moved customers in waves onto one billing platform, reconciling every bill before and after each wave. With one place to configure a plan, launches that took seven months now take six weeks, and every customer can buy every plan.

Network data

Faults found before customers call

Most operators already collect the signals that predict a fault: rising error rates, a struggling node, a cabinet running hot. They rarely reach the people answering the phone.

We join network data to customer and asset records, so an agent can see that a street is affected before the first caller finishes explaining. Where the pattern is clear, customers are told about the fault, and when it will be fixed, before they notice it.

Our leaders

Telecommunications leads

People who have run billing cycles and network operations centers, and know what a missed bill run means.

  • Siddharth Rao

    Industry Lead, Telecommunications

Has worked on billing and provisioning for mobile and fiber operators for twenty years. Leads our work with operators.

  • Elif Demir

    Billing Transformation Lead

Plans and runs billing consolidations, wave by wave, with every bill reconciled.

  • Connor Walsh

    Network Data Lead

Joins network and customer data so faults are found, and explained, before customers call.
