Life at KIASA
A week at KIASA
Client work most days, a day in the studio, and a rhythm that leaves room for thinking. Here is what an ordinary week looks like.
See open roles
We work at a steady pace on purpose. Teams that are not exhausted make fewer mistakes, write clearer code and notice when something is wrong. The habits below are how we keep it that way, in every studio and on every client.
An ordinary week
Monday to Friday
Monday: plan
The team agrees what it will finish this week, with the client in the room. Anything that does not fit is written down, not squeezed in.
Tuesday: build
Long blocks of focused work. Meetings are kept to the morning, and afternoons are quiet by default.
Wednesday: studio day
Most people work from the studio. Critiques, pairing across teams, lunch together and a short talk from someone in the firm.
Thursday: release
Changes go to production in daylight, with the people who wrote them watching. Releases are routine, not events.
Friday: show and reflect
A demo for the client, a short retrospective, and the afternoon set aside for learning time or tidying up.

Where we work
Studios, not offices
Our studios are small, between twenty and ninety people, and built for working together: long tables, quiet rooms and walls you can write on. Most people come in two or three days a week, and nobody counts.
You will also spend time with clients on site, especially at the start of a project. We plan travel weeks ahead and keep overnight trips to a minimum.

How we decide
Written down, and open to everyone
Decisions that matter are written up in a short note anyone can read and comment on. The accounts are shared with every owner each quarter. If you want to know why something is the way it is, you can find out.
Partners keep open hours every week. Ask them anything.
How we work with clientsA sustainable pace, measured
- 38 hours
- is our standard working week, and we track overtime so it stays rare.
- 2 to 3
- days a week in the studio for most people, chosen by the team.
- 4%
- of weeks last year included work outside normal hours, down from 7% in 2024.
KIASA time records, 2025. Sample figures.

“The Thursday release used to make me nervous at other firms. Here it is so routine that we bring cake only when nothing happens, which is most weeks.”
The habits that hold it together
No hero work
If a weekend fix is needed, we ask why and fix the cause. One person carrying a system is a risk, not a virtue.
Handover from week one
We write things down as we go, so the client's own team can run what we build.
Critique, kindly
Work is reviewed in the open, and feedback is about the work, given with care and taken without fear.
Quiet afternoons
Meetings in the morning where possible, so the rest of the day is for deep work.
Paid time to think
Friday afternoons and ten learning days a year are protected in every project plan.
Small teams
Five or six people, so everyone knows what everyone else is doing.
